This is everyone's dreamland exit from the world's biggest stage. Robbie Lawler has managed to avoid the curse that accompanies most fighters who announce their end.
The fight with Niko Price was extremely emotional for him, which was evident from the moment he entered the cage. However, the lightning knockout had to surprise even the most optimists from Lawler's fan club.
A long run of bad results is forgotten. The King of Violence has proven his exceptionalism and has trained a determined opponent at the first possible opportunity.
Barely half a minute had elapsed when the two fighters met in a fierce shootout in the center of the cage.
Robbie showed his experience and found room in a messy situation for a beautiful uppercut to decide the fight.
"I've had probably the worst camp of my life. I couldn't do anything at all. Today was the first day I felt a little better and my legs were working. In the end it worked out pretty well, I hit some decent bombs out there," Lawler described his performance, which rounded out his win total at thirty.
Robbie doesn't want to hear about extending that number in the future. Even a fight with Conor McGregor wouldn't convince him to return.
"Now I want to hang out a bit. Enjoy this moment and relax. I'll keep on training, of course, but I'm not really thinking about going back. I think this was a good way to end it all," the former champion praised the perfect timing of his end.
